The Tuscan Dream is real

and Vignale is your perfect home base. Start with a visit to one of the local village weekend markets, and cook up a delicious meal in our well-equipped kitchen. Eat at the nearby Trattoria (a five minute drive), or the legendary Osteria Le Panzanelle restaurant (a six minute drive). Pick up seasonal Tuscan produce, prosciutto and pesto in Radda at the gourmet grocer “Alimentari Porciati” and make a pasta dinner to enjoy al fresco by sun or candlelight on the balcony or in the garden. Wake up in the morning to the birds singing and on your morning walk/run along the vineyards, be sure to grab a cappuccino made for you by Alessio or Martina at the Trattoria at the bottom of our hill.

Explore

the nearby historic hilltop towns of Radda, Panzano, Castellina and Greve, all within 15 minutes drive from Vignale. You can easily drive to Florence in about 45 minutes, park close to the historic center at the Porta Romana, a few minutes walk from the Ponte Vecchio and the Uffizi Gallery. Florence is one of the most spectacular walking cities anywhere in the world and unparalleled for art and history. In the opposite direction from the farmhouse, Siena is only 30 minutes away. Farther afield, the famous hill towns of San Gimignano, Monteriggioni, Volterra, Lucca, Pisa, Montepulciano, Arrezo and the Mediterranean sea are all within one to two hours drive.

Close by the farmhouse, you can enjoy idyllic vistas and vineyards all around. We are happy to guide you toward some of our favorite trails, shopping and restaurants. We also invite you to explore making art and have provided art materials at Vignale for you to use.

Live La Dolce Vita

Time slows down in Tuscany and why not slow down with it? Castello Monterinaldi’s wine tasting rooms are at the foot of our driveway and we recommend the wine-paired lunch made by Margarette at our neighbor’s winery, a short 8 minute walk from the house. Within 10 kilometers, there are dozens of top DOCG wineries of “Gallo Nero” fame. Radda, Greve, Panzano, and Castellina in Chianti are destinations in themselves, and don’t miss the wineries and restaurants at Fontodi, Volpaia, and Fonterutoli. Arrange a local tour with our friend Sabina, who is also available as a tour guide in Florence. Book an Italian cooking class at Vignale with Maria Victoria, who will teach you how to make perfect Tuscan pasta, bruschetta, roasts, and tiramisu. The nearby towns showcase expertly crafted local goods made from olive wood and linen.

Relax

Our library is well stocked with books about Italy, Tuscany, Chianti history, Italian novels (in English), art books, architecture books and cookbooks. Please browse and enjoy.
